Understanding ADC12 vs A380 Die-Casting Alloys

Two of the world's most-used die-casting alloys, compared on chemistry, properties, and ideal applications.

ADC12 (JIS) and A380 (AA) are close cousins — both Al-Si-Cu pressure die-casting alloys with excellent castability. ADC12 offers slightly higher silicon for superior fluidity and pressure tightness, making it the default for thin-wall and complex castings. A380 brings strong thermal conductivity, favoured in electronics housings. Choosing between them comes down to wall thickness, thermal needs, and regional standards.
